California SB 1215 Recycling Fee

Information for Proline Customers in California
Effective as of January 1, 2026, customers who purchase Covered Battery-Embedded Products which include embedded rechargeable batteries in the State of California are subject to a 1.5% recycling fee. This fee is mandated by Senate Bill (SB) 1215.

What Is a Covered Battery-Embedded Product?
A “covered battery-embedded product” is any product that contains a battery that is not designed to be easily removed by the user with standard household tools. These products require proper collection and recycling at the end of their lifecycle.

The following Proline products with lithium-ion batteries are subject to the recycling fee:

How the Fee Works
The recycling fee will be paid by Guitar Center to the state of California on behalf of customers who purchase the above products. The amount of the fee is determined by CalRecycle (California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery).
